The one I'm buying has only 55k and a dead motor... they just don't last too long, I guess

Look at it as an oppourtunity to get a ported motor

Check the oil metering system. it probably caused the engine failuer.. engines that sit along time have this problem.. Also engine that did not get regular oil changes...

BTW i would check this before putting in a new engine, because you could have this problem again...

Personaly i would get rid of the oil metering system and go with a oil ion the gas tank. the benefits are plenty. better sealing because of the purpose of the oil. so it's sometimes better compression. and in general it will build carbon up less. the downside is that it takes more at every time you get gas. the insurance was reason enough for me to switch.

Sorry to here man. Mine blew about alittle over amonth ago and it only had 32,000 miles on it and I was driving on a back road like you. And same with compression...good in front 0 in back. They just have to be ran and not sit.

Well, when you get a rotary that has been sitting there are some thing you NEED to do:

1. Change all fluids
2. ATF
3. Check/replace oil metering system (or eliminate it)

Dude my 85 had 224k on the clock when it went bad. I got an 80 with over 300k...

**** happens, and I had this problem many times, cross your fingers it could be carbon locked?

Well maybe that only happens not after driving...

Good luck man, and I always use a OMP and Premix!

That sucks. If you tear it down let us know what went - I'de be curious to know what happens internally to cause 0 compression on an entire rotor.

Sorry to hear it man. Are you at least try a rebuild yourself? You could also port it while you're in there. Man, I am always freaked that mine could go at any moment...(taps playing softly in the background)

Sure you don't have a stuck seal? Take off your exhaust manifold (if your getting a new motor, you'll be doing it anyways) turn the motor by hand till you can see the seals and move em. Who knows on could be stuck depressed. Atleast your motor still turns .

i think ill try to see if the seals are stuck, but i dont think if they were stuck they would have just gotten stuck going about 45 cruising down a backroad and then all of the sudden just get stuck, but its a possibility i guess, cant hurt to try. Im also going to ATF the **** out of it... you never know, hehe, its going to be a while before i can get a new motor, i might sell the SOB for anything that can get me to work, this is stupid. if i put a new motor in, it will at least be a S5 N/A or hopefully a TII swap, who knows, i just have seen too many low milage S4 engines pop. Thanks guys for your help and keep em coming

So could you see if all three seals were present and the rotor turned without binding? If so, try the ATF.

i turned the motor over and i think i felt three seals, it was kind tough to tell, but it made a whistling sound instead of a "whoosh" like the other side when i turned it. im going to ATF the **** out of it, dont worry, haha, ill let you guys know whats up.
