Rx7 Turbo II (Power Stages, Please Help)

Hey everyone..

I am currently looking into getting a Turbo II, in some what good condition (whatever I can afford). And I wanted to know how I can reach approx 275 / 300 RWHP safely. What modifications (Exact part / model) will I need to get to that mark. (Not half ***, safe / efficient).

I also wanted to know if I am kicking that much power, if I should upgrade my brakes (with a package from www.rx7.com).

My final question and the hardest to answer is regarding the motor, I have heard a great deal about swapping a motor with a lower mileage motor, should I go this way, or should I do a complete rebuild ?

Please let me know

Thanks In advance!

ALex

ok here goes.....
keep in mind for every power mod you need to add more fuel to support that new power.
1st-intake and exhaust. a good cat-back is a start. depending on your area you will want to remove the cats as well with a downpipe and midpipe. you can make your own intake for 15 bucks or so and make as much power as the more expensive ones. you will need more fuel though. need a fuel pump, fuel cut defender, and bigger injectors wouldnt hurt. if you go with big injectors, you will need an Apex AFC to tune them.
2. intercooler- apex makes good ones as well as HKS. front mount is the way to go.
3. turbo-if you are looking to make 300hp, you aint gonna do it on a stock turbo. you can get a hybrid, but i suggest going with a full T04E. you will need a new exhaust manifold and wastegate too.
4. ECU- if you get an 89 up T2 you can get it chipped or reprogrammed. but i would suggest going with a standalone ECU. Haltech makes the best one for RX-7s pretty much.
5. gauges- its not a power mod, i know, but the stock gauges are made for a stock car. the most neccesary ones are Boost, EGT, and water temp.

some of those things cancel each other out( with a Haltech you wont need FCD or AFC), but thats pretty much the best way to make a safe efficient 300+ horsepower. somebody else may be able to help you better than me, but the above is a pretty good guideline.

Yeah i agree with FC Drifter....all those things he listed is the way to go if u don't want to go half assed....which anyone who goes half assed on thier rotary will get half assed results.....but as for the motor....u r better off with the rebuild cuz if u want that much power a lower mileage one will only last so long before it blows then u r stuck with a rebuild anyway so do it once and get it out of the way.....
