Rx7 rev limit and brake questions

Ok well I just picked up my second rx7 vert. My first one was a 91' vert and my new one is a 90'. I remember the rev limit on my 91' vert was 8100, and when you hit redline the car doesn't bounce off the rev limiter like piston cars. The 90' that I just bought has a redline of 8500-8600 and actually has a rev limiter. There isn't any aftermarket ecu upgrades to my knowledge, but it does have a box in between the passenger headlight assembly and the airbox that I don't remember being on my old vert. I was just wondering if it is possible I have some type of aftermarket ecu or a chip of some sort?

I also hear a sound coming from my rear driver brake that sounds like bb's rolling around in a container, and the noise gets faster as I speed up. Anyone know what that could be?

Thanks in advance, I am so happy I can sit behind the steering wheel of another rx7!

Unless the engine internals have been upgraded, you should not be reving the engine past redline (8000 RPM). Power drops off sharply above 7000 RPM on an S5 NA anyhow, so there's no point in potentially damaging the engine. The engine is limited by the intake design, and reving the hell out of it is not going to make you go faster. Try shifting instead.

And your noise is probably a bad wheel bearing.

the occassional revving is ok, just dont over do it.

And whats this box you speak of. The only box thing I know thats there iseither injector resistors, or fuel pump resistor.

For one i wouldn't be bouncing anywhere near 8k rpm unless your setup for it. As for the box you speak of (like stated above) it sounds like the injector resistor box or the fuel pump relay/resistor assy. (a pic of it would help alot). The "bb" noise sounds like a wheel bearing. Id jack up that wheel and spin it carefully listening pulling the wheel off as necessary. Keep us posted.
