Rx7 overheated..possibly okay?
Okay so last night I decided to start my car after sitting for a few months, It fired up right away, and everything seemed to be okay, I ran back to the house (acreage) and came back. checked my water temp and it was high..215 range so i quickly shut it off, Now i didn't have my alternator on so my fan wasn't running or anything, which now I realize was really stupid. I don't think my water pump was circulating either because the rad was piping hot and so was the upper hose, but my bottom one was still cold. Went out today and I noticed a little bit of coolant was leaking from somehwere the night before because I had a tiny puddle underneath the extension manifold. (Is this possibly just from the coolant leaking out the weep holes? )
Anyways hooked up my alternator and started it up. It didn't seem to be sucking any coolant from my resevoir, however my gauge was showing it wasn't warming up, my rad wasn't heating up or my upper rad hose. It did seem to run fine, but I don't think coolant was circulating again, smoked for a bit but thats cause it runs rich, and seemed to be running normal (No abnormal white smoke) However I noticed by my extension manifold on the right side it was spitting and you could see little wisps of smoke. Is it possible I just blew the gasket? or maybe just the puddled coolant heating up and coming off the manifold? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do next? I was thinking of doing a flush, changing the thermostat and seeing if the coolant is actually circulating, I opened the cap on the the thermostat housing and it looked dry, is my thermostat possibly stuck closed?

The picture is terrible, can't really tell anything by it. Are you saying you see coolant there?
It is common for coolant to puddle on the top of the lower intake manifold where it connects to the engine block, due to failure of o-rings. Eventually enough will puddle and it will start dripping down onto the exhaust and "smoke".

try changin the thermostate first. and check the radiator for any clogs. Do you get any heat in the car as well? i remember on one car with that problem of the top hose being hot and bottom being cold that it was a thermostate problem.
