rx7 noob questions

my friend has just acquired a jdm front clip to swap an s5 tii engine into his 87 na, and the guy that is taking care of the work has mention that there are a few things that he's sure will need to be replaced.
he mentioned that the car will need a new maf... might that also be called an air flow meter or mas?
we're thinking that the driveshaft, transmission and half-shafts will be just fine (unless someone here know's better?). now, i'm looking for a reliable place to find a good price on an lsd, any suggestions?
are there any other things that i might need to look into? all help is appreciated.

you will need the engine harness, ECU and AFM.

the n/a transmission would work if you leave the engine relatively stock but will not hold up well if you start modifying it much. if you use the n/a transmission you will need to use a S5 n/a clutch and flywheel.

an s5 na clutch and flywheel? why not the turbo one? to the best of my understanding, the only real power upgrade will be a fmic instead of a turbo hood... and probably a free-flowing exhaust.
is there a post somewhere or perhaps a page that you know of with some of the more common jdm/us parts comparisons?
with my dsm, i've never been interested in jdm parts so i have never had a need to figure out it there is anything significant between the two oem parts (aside for the"bling bling, jdm y0").
i appreciate the help, i am not ashamed to admit that i'm a rotary noob

Because you said you will be using the N/A transmission, that's why. They are different and therefore require different flywheels and clutches.

the FMIC and the free flowing exhaust is going to give you power, but i think the S5 n/a tranny should hold up well, but remember that mazda made the TII tranny's for a reason, to work with the TII motor, so to be on the safe side i would find a TII tranny, and a clutch and flywheel of course

My input is the NA driveline will hold to max out the stock turbo. After you go beyond the turbo then things will start braking. I prefer using the NA harness and modifying it. But that is all I will input now as I am not an S5 guru or close to it.
