BC RX7 GXL 88 - Bridgeport

I've been poking around for a while, and I'm quite certain I want to bridgeport my GXL engine. I'm also somewhat broke at the moment, and semi impatient. I can afford all the tools I need and what not to get the engine out, take it apart, port it, ect. The only problem is one piece of information I really haven't been able to find an answer on. Which is probably just because its a stupid question.

I'm uncertain whether I 'need' to have a rebuild kit for the engine after I've ported it. I'm sure its probably a good idea, but is it totally nessisary? Is it gonna blow up if I just take it apart, port it, and put it back together?

Also, though I've been creeping the forums a lot, I haven't got any definite results on a few things.

First, I've 'heard' that the stock injectors in an N/A are good for up to 250 horsepower. I doubt I'll make better than that even with a bridgeport, and of those that suggested larger injectors, most suggested an upgrade to 550 CC primary and secondary injectors, not larger 750 or 800 CC injectors. But some recommend those larger injectors.

Another thing is the computer, a few people have insisted that I'd require a stand alone. Some have said I'd only need a piggy back, and still others said I'd be fine having my computer flashed and programmed with a basic bridgeport map, and then tuned to fit the ports.

Finally the transmission. I've heard say that I should swap it to a TII tranny, I've also heard say that the stock N/A Tranny should be fine for a bridgeport. Now I've mostly made up my mind here, since aaroncake was running his bridgeported GT40RR engine off the N/A tranny for a few months before it exploded. I'm not touching anything near his horsepower range, so I think it should be fine, but additional information would be welcome.

Any advice would be appericiated.

you would most likely need a stand alone.

you will most likely need new water seals and other various soft seals depending on the age of the engine. You will need fuel so turbo fuel system is a must.
you will need a full exhaust. thats a must. you dont need that beefy of a tranny.

also, you will need ear muffs and money to pay for the tickets you will get, and the gas mileage you will not have.

Can anyone confirm the horsepower rating that the stock N/A fuel system will support? I'm still not certain about the stand alone, I think I have seen bridgeports running on stock computers, maybe flashed and reprogrammed to support it. Is there any reason a piggy back like a Power FC wouldn't work for a bridgeport?

a power fc is a stand alone.
