Rx7 Dies When Leting Off The Gas

Well we found out that the fuel pump was no good for starters,so we put another one on when i let off the gas and it hits about 1100 coming down then it dies. im just about ready to blow this ****** up!!! the car revs great , just when ya come the gas it takes s hit, but when you hold the foot down just alittle on the gas its fine. im at a fricken loss here. the fule pump is putting out 45 pounds of pressure, the old one was like 5 lbs, lol. so what should i look for now?

mines doing this now too. i think my new walboro is being retarded. even to start the car, i have to try to start it, and it immediatly floods, then i have to unhook the fuel pump, turn over the car till the fuel in the engine starts the car on its own, then once that happens, reconnect the fuel pump. freakin gay man.

I'm not very knowedgable and I don't want to jack this thread with my own problem but mine does it too (if this is the same). After the car's warm, and it's sitting still, if I give a good rev and then let right off... as it's coming down and hits where it should idle it'll stall. I'm not sure, but one of my friends seems to think it might be because of my BOV venting the air instead of recircing it back in, so there's all this fuel with way less air then it thinks so it bogs ??? I could be waaay off, I new to turbo'd cars, and beyond new to rotaries... but it sounds exactly like what mine'll do. (It seems to run great otherwise).

I could be way off, but this sounds similar to a problem in another thread recently. The culprit was vacuum leak. Worth a shot looking into.

you can adjust your idle on the back of the intake manifold

RX7FROMCAL I'm pretty sure yours is a large vacuum leak. Check the Turbo Inlet Duct near the turbo side for cracks. Also spray some carb cleaner or nonchlorinated brake cleaner around the engine and listen for the engine to speed up.

n8 T2 I'm pretty sure yours is just a small vacuum leak.

k-rok I have no idea why your pump is messing up.

Also n8 T2 and RX7FROMCAL should readjust their TPS' or replace them if they cannot get them within specs.

I get the exact same thing but its only right when I start up after I drive up the street its fine. It'll rev up to about 1500 drop down to 1k then just keep droping till it shakes alot. I'm almost positive its a vacuum leak but my street ported was put in horribly and theres hoses without anywhere to go everywhere

Mine idles smooth and has no issues there... it's only if you romp on the gas just for the purpose of revving and then let off, blow off valve releases and then it'll sometimes stall. Otherwise it runs, idles, and drives fine it seems. I dunno... kind of off topic, but what kind of a BOV should I be running? Should it be recirculating? I've got some Apexi dual chamber thing that just vents into the atmosphere... it had it when I bought the car.

I'd check to make sure that your TB isn't all gummed up or anything. Sounds like the throttle plates could be sticking shut...

while where on the subject 2 days ago i bought my new battery car started right up the car reved up to 3000 like always then when it went down to 1500 then it violently dropped and the car died on me after i turned it on again i reved it for a good 2 min then it idled normal, but today i noticed it doesnt rev to 3000 like it used to. when i start it up it stays at 1500 and the rpms go up and down like for 15 secs and then it drops to 1000 rpm and but it doesnt turn off on me any more but when i drive it now it like hesitates i noticed it only happens when im at a constant speed and rpm and it seems to do it at 2800 the most. the hesitation isnt that bad but i noticed it does hesitate a lil bit. if any1 knows what symthoms these please help as i am trying to get the most out of this engine b4 i swap a tII. also there was this 1 ground wire that looked like it came from either the tranny or the oil pan and it was just lyin around it looked like it had a lil magnet and a round hole in the middle of the metal part sticking out, so any ways i decided to ground it to what seemed to be where it went(near the 710 cap and the oil needle) i go start my car and my oil pressure went way above the 110 psi so i took it off like it was. does any1 know what it is and if it needs to be grounded? and 1 more thing my oil pressure now is low like at 30 psi where b4 it was between 60 and 90. thnx in advanced sorry i wrote so much but im trying to get to the bottom of this

yea i had the same problem on a turbo lancer, its a leak some where on the intake side, as long as my BOV recirculated it was fine, but when it went to atmosphere the car would rev and die. so good luck chasing that problem, it shouldnt be too hard!!haha lol

When was the last time you guys took your intake manifolds off? Did you use new gaskets around these? It seems like a lot of people seem to forget that the intake manifolds are a huge source of vacuum leaks if you don't use new gaskets, or at least some RTV over the old gaskets...
