RX-8 powertrain swap?

Did a search to no avail, so I'm asking here. Has anyone done a complete RX-8 powertrain swap into an FC? Or is there a thread in the forum regarding such a swap? TIA

It has probably been done, but it requires SERIOUS customization. If you have to ask about it you are not ready for it.

This is almost as bad as a FD3S drivetrain swap...

The PPF makes it a pain in the ***, since it's like a totally difference set-up.

Thanks for the input everyone. Just doing a little brainstorming. This is not something I would attempt on my own, but I want to get a little smart on the possibilities before talking to a shop. I'm interested in fairly significant HP increase without going turbo or V8 route, so I'm exploring other possibilities, however limited they may be.

like most others are saying, you're not going to get search results because i really don't think it's been done, nor is it plausible.

what the biggest hurdle here is, is cost. goto your local junkyard (if you can find one with a body-damaged rx8) and ask them how much for the motor+tranny costs. i tried looking for *just* the motor and the cheapest one within 100miles (greenville, nc) was like $2500. now, if you're looking for a racing application, that is probably peanuts compared to what you're going to end up spending for all the mods in the long run, anyways, but for me that really just popped the bubble and made me want to stick with my current fc3s
