RX-7 too much gas

Hi again everyone!
Well I got my car back from the shop and the exhaust seems to be fixed (no more dragging on the ground!) but now it smells like my car has serious gas. The juicy melon air freshner I have can't even begin to overpower the smell this car is making. I've checked the tires to see if I drove over a big pile of dog doo-doo, and I've looked around to see if some creature got in my car and crapped in it, or if someone stashed a rotting egg somewhere. It's quite embarassing since everyone seems to think it's me with the gas problem. I don't think it's me, so is there anyway it could be my car?? Has anyone ever heard of this?? It didn't smell before I got the exhaust fixed, so maybe I should take it back and ask them to unfix it. I prefer the sound of the exhaust dragging on the ground to this stench!

do you have cats? i dont, and mine kinda smells sometimes. did they change the piping or anything? maybe they fucked it up, and you have an exhaust leak now or something.

Does it make your eyes water? If your mechanic was tinkering with the exhaust, perhaps he removed the catayltic convertors. Really rich combustions will make your eyes water and distinctly smell of rotten eggs, but you have to be REALLY rich for it to reek like that...

So does it smell like fuel, or anything else?

If it smells like farts, then it could be the sealer they used on the exhaust, or perhaps they replaced the cat (new cats take a while to break in, and smell bad while they do)?

My friend Mercury Mystique will get that smell when he goes full throttle.....backs off, then goes full throttle again.

I told him it was because all that excess gas is getting caught in the cats and not breaking down properly.

If it smells terribly, I would bet its not actually car related. My parents car got a rat stuck in the AC system and smelled simply awful until we finally figured out what it was and pulled it out

Pretty god damn fucked up and decaying. My dad took it out, I stood back. The smell was just terrible. Like the worst smell ever. My mom had to drive around with it in there for a couple weeks too

Ok, to clarify the smell issue, there doesn't seem to be a fuel smell, it's more rotten egg than actual **** smell, and it seems to be worst when the car is running; although it could just be that I don't often hang out in there when it is off. I hope its not a rotting animal, but I don't think that's it since it didn't creep up it just started suddenly. And I don't think the mechanic crapped in my car. As I say I've looked over the car thoroughly inside and out and there is no crap or rotting anything to be found. So I'm interested in this catalytic converter theory. Tell me more about how I would now if it was this and how much it would cost to fix.

My mom had an experience like that when her car was sitting for the winter, a rat made a little nest on the engine and started chewing on some of the eletrical system. This all happened a few years ago but even still when your in the car and you turn on the heater or A/C theres this certain smell that comes up like a **** smell. Not as gross as having a dead rat though.

As for the catalytic converter... if they did replace it I'm sure you would know if your mechanic replaced it since there expensive for a new one. But if you did have it replaced its quite possible thats where the smell is coming from. The only way to get rid of it is just by driving the car unfortunately.

OK, seriously what you are smelling is probably Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) from emission.
