Which RX-7 is more tunerable? FC vs. FD

I just read an article from a Japanese magzine called "Hyper Rev" Vol. 6 on RX-7. According to Fujita Engineering, FC seems to have more potential in term of tuning than FD model. The Fujita's modified 88 turbo FC delivery 537.6ps. Any input guys?

the FD is a better base engine to mod but both of them have the same potential regardless of what the FD guys would say. there is more room to grow with the FC since it started with ~80 less BHP.

I think it depends on what aspect you are wanting to tune.

The FD is newer and has more electrical gadgets and cosmeticy type mods redily available.

If you want to attact right at the motors heart the FC is easier to mod. Starting with a roomy bay easy mods single turbo simple emissions.

One of the best things about a rotary motor is its relative simplicity compared to piston motors.

The FC is less complex than than the FD for sure because of its single turbo setup.
Being an FC owner who likes simple, I get a little nervous when i look under the hood of an FD and seeing so many vacuume lines and sensors and whatnot.

The FC has some really outdated intake and exhaust technology on it, and bolt on mods are gonna go further on the FC. The FC can gain so much with boltons its crazy.

The FD was a pretty aggresive build right off the lot, whereis the FC was built a little more conservatively.

I think FCs are great cars for entry level DIY tuners and have a lot of potential for building aggressively at the higher level. FDs need a little more caution and knowledge to start building on but they got mad power from the get go.

Personally.. i have two FCs, a super reliable lightly modded NA, and a new stock turbo that i want to do a grip of mods too. If i had an FD i probably wouldnt change much, i would leave it stock sequential twin turbo and baby it because it is already built for all out performance and doesnt need that much updating.

It's about budget.
You can can tune either from mild to wild, but the FC will cost less & the FD will look more exotic.

First of all, how much money are you willing to spend?

Unless we're talking about TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars, you're wasting our time trying to answer your questions.
