Yo,

A sand rail is a tube framed off road buggy specifically designed for sand. Skinny tires up front, paddles in the back.

Usually powered by air cooled VW engines...but they had a couple sick 20B powered ones at Sevenstock 4.

Yo,

Here's what they looked like:

And:

Big momma turbo. The rail next to the 4 seater had a wheelie bar on the back!

Alrighty, ill spill some info on this Monster Garage thing since Chris and I WERE going to be on it, but couldnt at the last minute

Its a 1990 convertable that the trunk has been cut out of and a huge retractable "paddle wheel" installed in the trunk. The wheel is on a chain drive and lowers down to get traction in the sand for blasting up the hill.

Seems like not enough power right? Well, thats what a 100 shot of NOS can help with (that was the original guess on the shot, but dont know if they stuck with it). Its a wet system to help keep enough fuel along with the nitrous so that the engine last a little while.

Its funny though, they got in a bit of trouble with the park rangers when they were blastin around with a straight exhaust and flames out the back late at night........cant imagine why......

Anyways, it should be alot of fun to watch. Im interested to see how it all turns out. I know this stuff because they got the car and some help from the local mazda wrecking yards in Rancho Cordova.

Anyone else know stuff that i dont ? Id like to know more !

Fatty

You were going to be on it? What would your jobs be?
Rotary specialist or something?
That would have been ultra pimp.

Kinda sux that their hacking it for just a rail.
The rex deserves a better challenge.
I'll still be watching though.

When they're done, they should race it against the 1986 Porsche 944 they turned into a golf ball picker. Make them race through a sand trap at a golf course or something.
