Welcome to the rotary world.

These other sites will help explain a lot of the mods:

I recommend performing all the normal maintenance before you start adding performance modifications. Right now, the best thing you can do is change out ALL the fluids since you don't really know what is in there now or how long it has been there. You can check out the Factory Service Manual at the below link under How-To's/Manuals, and the web site also has a lot of other good info. Besides what is listed in the scheduled maintenance, I recommend synthetic gear oil in the transmission and rear end (not in the engine), change the thermostat every 80,000mi with a MAZDA brand thermostat, and use 89 octane gas (or higher if you notice any knocking).

Also note that you can use the SEARCH function on this site to find other good info. The Search button is in the upper right corner of the screen. Also, the RX-7 Store button in the upper left corner of the screen shows a lot of the common performance upgrades.

1. Tune up.

2. Make sure the engine is in good condition (compression test).

3. Racing Beat headers, straight pipe (unless you have emissions, then high-flow cat), cat-back is OPTIONAL.

4. K&N Intake (Either cone or leave the airbox top off)

5. Port Intake Manifolds (see my tutorial as a STICKY on top of the 2nd gen page).

-That should put you at 200bhp... enough to run even with/faster than a 87-88 Turbo II. Good for low 15's (high 14's with EXCELLENT driving).

Suspension.... prolly some good good yokohoma tires and Tokico 5-way shocks.

Get into Autocross at www.scca.org . then if you compete in 2 events, you can get performance AND stock parts for VERY VERY cheap through www.mazdamotorsports.com
