Rx-7 Fc faster than an 03 maxima?
I know there is a little bias but my mom will base if an rx-7 fc is too fast if it is faster than her maxima. The 03 has a 3.5L putting out 255hp and 246ft*lbs. it ways 3,200lbs. I am sure it will handle better but if it seems faster than it will be a no go. Also N/A or turbo. I don't really care which i get at the moment.

A 2003 3.5L Nissan Maxima is rated at a 6.3 0-60 time and 14.8 1/4 mile time. The n/a rx7 2nd gen is slower than this, like low 16's in the 1/4 mile. A stock TII s4 is also slower than this, like low 15's, but an s5 TII (depending on options) I believe *can* get to high 14's depending on conditions and launch in fully stock form.

Tell her you want to be a good son and save her alot of money! Grab yourself a 1979-1985 Mazda Rx-7 and drop it off at my place, for under 10K which you would spend on a FC atleast, you instead could have a really tricked out 1st gen with paint/rims/stereo/interior/and engine. Keep it Old Skool...The FC'S are not new and most of them out there being sold usually need alot of work

I had an 04, and it pretty much spanked alot of ricer boys. But a quick answer would be that yes, any max with the vq will take pretty much any fc off the line(stock).

lol my mom was kinda like that she got a 01 trans am and shes like u cant have a faster car then me, OR ill add a supercharger " you can never beat mom"
im tring ot get my turbo II ready to race her at the track and own her haha... just to show her up wish me luck!
for a car id get a 2nd gen rx-7
year 86-91
if your young and its your first car id start out with a N/A FC reasons
( it wont be faster then your moms car so "safe in her eyes" insurance isnt that expensive on liability only ussually, the rx-7 is about in the middle for prices.
1. parts are abundant and its not to hard to work on( no turbos or to complex of things)
2 thecar is socially sound, your freinds will like it looks modern enuf ( you get a 1st gen and they are like WTF is that turd can( even tho they have no idea how amazing it really is)
3. its balanced , handles well, its quick but not so fast that u will find your self in trouble all the time, seems safe.
then maybe in a few yrs save up and buy a turbo car but i wouldn't untill your ready, fast cars in young drivers hands isnt ussually a good idea

3k for an FC in cali? You'll find yourself with a pretty good condition one. Up here in Canada (eh) 1k nets a crap car =) and 3k nets a fixer-upper, BUT if you're lucky you can find one in great condition with no rust, but that's in Canada (eh). Have fun looking for your FC and yes, the maxima is faster than the FC =(

I got robbed when I bought my FC. My only suggestion, and I'm sure your mom will agree....have the thing checked out by someone who knows what they are talking about before you pay for it. I paid 3K for mine (on the grand scale of things, still cheap) but it came with all sorts of issues that I didn't realize when I bought it. Look for good paint, minor scratches are bound to happen though, so are little dents, but they can be fixed easily enough. Make sure to check under the car as well, especially near the doors, where the fenders meet the body. Rust loves to nestle right in there. Just be smart about it and happy hunting.
