when my tax return comes in the mail, i will be purchasing my first rx-7. there are currently two in my area i am looking at and i need some help deciding which one. both appear to be in near-pristine condition. one is a 1988 10thAE TII which has an exhaust leak emanating from near the manifold and no stereo (victim of theft--speakers AND head unit are gone), otherwise near-mint condition, with the engine rebuilt at 100k. the other is a 1990 TII with a small crack in the windshield. The seller of the 88 is asking $3500, and the seller of the 90 is asking $4000. which one would probably be the best to go for, you think? please elaborate on your reply? thanks

 

Those are 2 very desirable FC's. The advantage of the AE is the black leather interior. That is very desirable. The advantage of the 90 is that it is an s5. These are much more rare, and the quality of interior and such is greater. Cant go wrong with either. Try them both out and see which one you like better.

 

Yep, I agree with 13bpower. You must drive then and decide for yourself.

There are considerable suspension setup differences between the two... you should drive both and see which one you like better.

They both weight about the same, but the 90 will have slightly better HP, but you will also have to deal with the mouse belts on the 90. The 88 won't have those satan spawned devil belts

 

damn those satan spawned devil belts :P i'd go for the 90 anyway though. It's got the looks in my opinion. How much will a new windsheild run you tho?

 

Probably less than the stereo

 

i have 6 different quotes for the new windshield ranging from 300-500 dollars each . . . still shopping around
