i got a couple of rust spots on my car (the sunroof and the hatch lid) that i want to get rid of. is it possible to remove it with some sort of chemical fuid? i will probably sand it down after because the paint is cracking, but if it has to be replaced ill just do that instead. the rust is pretty deep on the sunroof, but the hatch lid seem like its just rusting on top of the paint. thanks in advance

Red face

if its that deep on the sunroof, id replace it, just IMO, as for the lid just lightly sand, then primer, and wet sand.

i love body work, so much less complicated than engine diagnosing

If the rust is "straight through", you can't do anything about it.
If it's a "bubble", it's most likely rusted all the way through.

if i sand it down and still see little rust spots will it continue to grow/spread?

to bradenscreed

can i sand it down and then cover whats left of the rust with primer? will this eliminate the growing of the rust? (kinda the same question)

my hatch lid has bubbles... needs to be replaced?

how do i post pictures? i have it in jpeg but then everytime i try it says the file is too big. also the maximum limit size keeps decreasing.

thanks
