Runs hot on highway even in 5th (210 deg.)

ok the search function isnt working for me, it wont give me the results page, sorry guys

1988 n/a w/ s5 n/a engine swapped in

i have an aftermarket meghan racing coolant temp guage that is tapped in the thermostat housing and when i get on it it sticks at 210, and over 65 mph day or night in 4th or 5th gear as well.

now im running 80 percent water so the mix is no problem.
could it be my thermostat? it would seem that it would flat out overheat or i wouldnt get the reading if it was stuck closed right?

and if not should i just go with a better radiator (running the metal s5 one) or is this something that needs to be explored deeper?

thanks again

are all the shrouds on and and is the factory fan working?

and you do know that half the mods you have done will not give you any power and will most likely rob you of power

well the 5/6 ports were removed because i have no air pump nor cat so i have no way to actuate them. and vdi for the same reason. my safc is tuned to compensate, but its not the same i know.

and im running a ford escort e-fan on the high setting and it was no problem last summer, so i have no reason to think it would be now, but who knows

Do you know what internal condition your radiator is in? I would check it to see if it is beginning to get clogged.

Icemark has given you some excellent feedback regarding your engine mods. The same thing applies to your cooling system. The cooling system is half-*** modified and will therefore operate at reduced efficiency.

BTW, your other thread had all the answers you need, but let me help you again.

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/how-hot-too-hot-632290/

Some very smart people here have given you some very good information. You don't seem to be processing. You just keep worrying that your car is overheating. It is not, but it is sending you a message.

If you want it to run factory cool, put back it to factory cooling. It's pretty basic, but let me spell it out for you in precise detail.

Stock thermostat-
stock radiator cap
Stock thermocontrolled cooling fan
stock Fan shroud
stock underbelly pan
stock front cooling ducting

You also have no airpump. It is a well known issue that airpump removal also removes one of the two belts that drive the water pump. This can create cooling problems on the highway. fSolution?

Put on adouble alternator pully and add another drive belt.

Some other really smart people may make changes to the above list that work for them, however you don't seem to have the experience level to make a careful decisions based on the huge amount of available information. That huge amount of info is causing you confusion and worry. It also causes you to mod the car without understanding all the issues with the changes you make.

That's not a slam, just an observation. Take a deep breath, read the information and links in your earlier thread. You car doen't sound like it has a problem, but it is getting closer to overheating than it should be.

Good Luck,

There is nothing you can do with an S-AFC to compensate for the lack of functional 6PI and VDI systems.

While 210degF is not necessarily dangerous, at a constant 65mph the cooling system should be able to keep the engine temp well down near the thermostat's opening temp. The engine only needs to make about 10-12% of the stock peak power to maintain this speed, so there is obviously something wrong with the cooling system if it can't do this. If the cooling system is that far down on capacity, then any real load you put on it (i.e. hard driving) will cause dangerous overheating.
