Friend just picked up a TII with a side exit exhaust, no muffler. Very loud, but great sound.

Absolutely not. Hell, even at the track a "straight pipe" is pushing it. I have a little dump pipe that connects to my downpipe and dumps out from behind the passenger tire. It swaps on with v-bands. Last time at the 1/4 mile they asked me to put the rest of my exhaust back on.

Rotary engines are the most efficient way of converting fuel into noise.

Actually, I've been running a hollow cat or straight pipe for a couple years in CA, and I've never had a cop pull me over for being too loud. They only like to hassle me for not having a front liscense plate; I refuse to make the front end ugly with one.

The car's loud, but not obnoxious like all the damn hondas running fart mufflers. Racing beat's mufflers get rid of a lot of the high frequency sound.

Although, I am looking to pick up a presilencer. Anyone wanna sell me a used one?

yea..ive been running straight pipe too..but constantly on the lookout for cops...they usually run my plate and leave...but it was wierd ...this one day... a cop randomly pulled into my parking lot at work...at 8pm at nite...got out of his car...looked into my car with a flash light...went back into his car and typed on his keyboard..then took off....kinda spooked me...prob just ran my plate..prob thought it was stolen...considering the rattle can paint job, (which looks ok for spray paint), and my quick release steering wheel hub....lol
