Running rich, post any major threats?

my previous owner thought my problem was that the air/fuel mix wasnt right, (which with help from the team here i found was my secondary injector plugs), so he tryed adjusting the screw. Well he said now its running rich, and I think it is too. i wipe my finger in the exhaust and its oily. I know they use some gas in the fuel though, so this may just be normal deposit. I heard too rich can harm the cats, and I have a Bonez high flow, so I dont want to mess it up, but Im wondering if itll mess anything else up. And if you turn the screw in or out does it lean it out/richen it up, and which way is which. Im going to Summit racing tomorrow and buying a fuel/air gauge tomorrow for the hell of it.

That rich/lean screw only affects the mixture at idle. Clockwise equals rich, anti-clockwise , lean. Only affects idle mixture. Foot on the pedal mixture is by the ECU that looks at oxygen sensor, water temp sensor, air inlet temp and a fistful of other things. Off to work now. Download the factiory manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com and look or download section 4A or 4B to get an idea of whats involved.
