Running rich, blue smoke and low boost?

these are the symptoms i have right now. my friend who's been a mechanic for over 30yrs noticed the smoke and constant flames as he drove behind me during a test drive. he was telling me something was definitely wrong and that i'm probably losing power because of it. i noticed that my boost would only hit around 7psi too.
power mods are as follows: K&N cone filter into a 3" TID, FCD, walbro 255 fuel pump, Thunder Fab 3" downpipe/midpipe(goes right to stock cat-back) w/ no cats, and air pump and ACV removed.
i also have an MBC set to the lowest point so the car should be boosting naturally right now(i think). i was planning on raising the boost and see if that will compensate for the excess fuel somewhat. ultimately, i know i should get some sort of fuel management though.
as for the blue smoke, that's oil right? well we burn oil by design...but would it translate into blue smoke due the the straight pipe? it seems to be too much.
thanks!

You're not supposed to SEE blue smoke. If you do, your oil control seals might be going. Do a compression test. Although it won't tell you much about the oil seals, you'll be able to see if there's a deeper issue, like compression. If not, chances are likely that your turbo seal is going. That would explain the smoke and the lack of boost. It might be flooding the snail with oil :P

There could be a number of causes for blue smoke. If you are seeing low boost and blue smoke, it is entirely possible that your turbo is toast. Pull the TID and check shaft play, as well as look for any oil that has bypassed the seals.

If you are seeing BLACK smoke, then you are running rich.

what about unburnt fuel that gets burned in the hot exhaust? no chance it could be blue?

i have stock mufflers but no cats, everytime i hear a big POP (flames) i dont SEE flames, i just see a tad of BLUE smoke exit the tips, and the smoke happens to be concurrent with the POP and the size of the POP (ie - small pop yeilds small tad of blue smoke, big pop makes a decent cloud).

comments?

i think im going to make a video of it later in the day, see what you guys think.

Unburnt fuel should be black...kinda like when you burn out a candle

Burnt coolant should be white.....kinda like when you pour water in a frying pan.

Burning oil should have a bluish tint color.

If you have a bad oil control ring...it would cause you to see bluish smoke or if you have bad bearing. Im guessing you get a pop when you revv it up....which since you drive an 86 you have a MOP, increasing rpm will thus increase oil pressure and could supply that extra oil to give you that color.

thanks for the replies...
quick update: i just went out for another test drive. BTW, i have a rebuilt S5 turbo that i have only put about 200 miles on. i turned the MBC two full revolutions. i was seeing boost of 8psi at around 5500rpm then it would start to drop. at 6500rpm my boost would only be around 5psi. WTF!?!?! i was barely even making boost in 1st gear. really weird. all of this is since i put the new filter and 3" TID on the car and the walbro. the stuff is new so i dont think i have any leaks in the TID. i also cant see how the fuel pump would cause anything like this. i really dont know what's up...

depends on what the problem is.

It could be a clogged injector.
Leaky injector.
Vacuum problem.
Poor sealing of the apex seals
restricted airflow
clogged cats
and more....

you need an FCD and you need to tune your car.
