running rich

im running really, really rich....afterurn and all that...use 93-94 octane fuel (whichever the highest is at the place i stop at) and for awhile that stopped the backfiring...anyways, i recently replaced the fuel filter and it seems to have helped somewhat, but im wondering what else i need to do to get at the heart of this problem....i know gettin a fuel pressure regulator and a a/f gauge will help, but any other suggestions?

i dont have a problem with the mileage im gettin now, so if there is a way to up the air that is gettin inducted, that would be cool also...

if that last part is retarded, let me klnow...im still learning...heh

Do you have a ton of mods? Because there is no need to run 93-94 octane. Save yourself the money. Do you have free flowing exhaust? That would explain the backfires along with the need to change to lower octane fuel. BTW welcome to the board!
