running rich @ idle
running rich @ idle
Hi, I need to pass emissions but my car is running to rich @ idle, my AFR reads 11.8 and I need it to be @13. All emissions is removed but still running the cat.
I'm running a power fc but I can't make it to run any leaner. Please help

you need to reinstall your smog pump. it's pretty hard to pass without one. It's going to be a little tricky though. You would need the ACV installed and have it hooked up so that the port air system runs all the time. Hailers knows the ACV vacuum routing well, he may be able to tell you how to hook it up without having to reinstall the rats nest. The air pump and port air system in the ACV should result in a superlean (15-16:1) mixture coming out of the exhaust ports. Then you can enable O2 feedback on the PFC and it will try to keep the AFR where it needs to be to pass emissions.
Or you can try to run the air pump right to the cat, leave O2 feedback off, and lean out the idle with the Commander. You have to figure out what cells you are in using Map Watch, then go into the INJ map and decrease the INJ value in those cells. If you have upgraded primaries it gets trickier. Do you have a Datalogit box?
Or you can try to pass without an airpump. You might be able to put alcohol in the tank and lean the mixture out.

What injectors are you using?
First, go to etc. --> function select. Make sure that O2 feedback is off. It uses some weird Japanse characters though. You will see Injector Warning and Knock Warning should be on; the opposite symbol of what is displayed there is off. If O2 feedback was on, disable it and try to lean the car out with the INJ map like you were doing before.
If that doesn't work, go to settings --> injector . Now highlight Fr-Pr. move all the way to the right column and change the value from whatever setting you have there now (0 if stock injectors) to a negative value. Repeat with Fr-Sc. So first start by putting -.05 or -.10 and go leaner if you have to. Your AFR will lean out.
DO NOT BOOST WITH THE INJECTORS SET LIKE THIS. Those settings change the ECU's calculations for how long it takes for the injector to open (injector lag time/dead time). With the negative value, the final amount of fuel delivered will decrease, both at idle and under boost.
Put those settings back to where they were before you boost the engine at all.
