running on one rotor, only on startup
When I first start my 1990 vert for the day, it feels like its only running on one rotor. It shakes a lot, stinks like gas, revs very slow, and wants to stall. After about 10-30 seconds it goes back to normal. Is it actually running on one rotor? If so, what could be causing it?
It could be. First thing I would do is pul the codes. If anything I would guess that one of your primary injectors has a faulty connection or is going out. I had this happen to me before.
Make sure the plug on the AFM is nice & tight, and check the wiring at the plug's "backshell"...
Could be lots of things, most wiring/sensor related, or vac leak related...
Easy enough to read the primaries out from the ECU at startup, to verify that they're working as they should be...

I had the same problem as Dokta posted above. When warm, the engine was perfect. I changed the plugs and sure enough, one plug had a broken insulator. That plug was a leading plug also.
My guess is one of the leading plugs is bad. Since you would change one, just change all 4.

3000 miles ago is not just changing the plugs. These plugs can foul much quicker then that. Besides, it's not horribly expensive or hard to replace them and it's good for the engine.
Yea, they can foul "mad quik, yo!"
I'm actually overdue for pulling my plugs & taking a wire brush to them... though I think I lost my wire brush last time I did this. The car really feels different with clean plugs.

Mine was doing this as well..... turned out to be a coolant leak in the front rotor.. it got worse and worse until finally i could smell antifreeze in the exhaust and it would varely start at all. One it started though and got the water out of the housing.. it was fine.. except for the smeel of anitfreeze in the exhaust and finally the bubbling in the radiator!!!
