Running Lights Problem
Running Lights Problem
It all started when I needed a power source for my boost controller, and I spliced into the power wire going to my gauges, which is wired into my running lights (DOH! i was too excited). Later that night my running lights would just decide to stop working (exterior running lights/gauge cluster)...sometimes I could resolve it by tapping on my headlight switch, and sometimes they would come on only after disconnecting and reconnecting the connector going onto my turn signal (why might this happen?).
My boost controller is running off a different power source now, but my running lights have stopped working more frequently lately and I want to figure out what's wrong before I start looking for replacement parts. Does it sound like my switch is bad? the headlights work just fine. the female end on my headlight switch connector is a little burnt looking. no fuses have ever blown, they're all good. Also, how hard is it to rebuild the switch myself? i read up on it and it doesn't look too bad, but i don't have all the tools and soldering experience needed.

Please read the FAQ for FC sticky thread found at the top of this section before posting.
Many of the commonly asked questions (such as the one this thread was started with) are covered there. If you had read the FAQ for FC sticky thread you would have seen that you should check the back of the light switch, as chances are you have burnt it out. If it is burnt out then you will need to replace the switch and the light switch harness. Do not use a damaged switch or damaged harness with a new one.
Thread closed. Covered in the FAQ for FC sticky thread as well as countless threads on the light switch.
And bumps, such as the anyone post you made in this thread are not allowed here in the 2nd gen technical section. Why do you think that your question is any more important than anyone elses?
