running lean...i think
when i changed my plugs this week they were all black with carbon
that means its runnin lean right??
i cant remember, but its not normal (at least i dont think it is)
if i am running lean, what causes that and what could i do to fix it?
that would make my mileage go down wouldnt it
alot of noob questions i know
but ive never did too much mechanically till now
i know just enough to get me in trouble, but not enough to get me out

The black would indicate a rich condition. Goes with your fuel economy issue too.

believe me, the only benefit of a new air filter is that it cleans up your engine compartment.
There is also supposed to be a mixture adjustment screw near the driver side strut tower if the new plugs and filter doesn't solve it for you. Oh yeah, set your timing.
