rubber or solid mount?

I am going to buy a new muffler and didnt know the advantage or disadvantages of mounting the muffler solid. I know it is going to be a bit louder has anyone done this before. The reason- i have a body kit that allows me aprox 5 1/4 inch tip and i want to put a 4 1/2 and dont want it to get into a new paint job. Thanks JT

seen it done before mount kept breaking from vibrations but it was a crappy support just welded to the car.

you want rubber so it can vibrate without rattling or breaking itself free. I can see NO advantage to having solid mounts. also, im not sure what you mean by you dont want a new paintjob? if the tip you have is smaller whats the problem?

i think doesn't want the muffler to move and hit/scratch the new paint.
if you can have a support coming off the muffler that can bolt to the body put a nice rubber washer between the support and the body. might be enough to absorb vibration
