Is that the ebay piece? I had mine in for less than a week and that piece got destroyed along with that very bottom plastic piece not fitting in the tranny and the bolts stripping out and the whole shifter basically went in the trash.

Not sure if the short shifters use them, but is that the groove bushing?

If so, Mazdatrix has 'em.

you get them from Madzatrix..I think 8 bucks.Do yourself a favor.take the shifter to a Machinist and get it filled in,so you don't need to replace that Friggin bushing every two months..The stock shifter didn't have this bushing, why does the Short shifter have it..MONEY!it's all about the Replacement parts.

The stock shifter DOES have this bushing, that's why Mazda makes the replacement.

Yes. I actually had to replace this on my car a couple weeks ago.

Not sure if I'm talking about the right thing here as when I pulled mine out, it was metal on metal the whole time basically to keep you from spinning the shifter in circles.

When you go to mazda, ask them for a upper and lower shifter bushing. The other piece mentioned in my attachment should already be in the shifter and not need to be replaced. They only charged me like 26$ for the upper and lower bushing, gasket, and the spring thing. Don't remember what its called right now.

Theirs 4 bolts for the top rubber shift boot. Unbolt those and that whole assembly should come up. Then, underneath that, their should be 3 bolts that you have to undo to open that up. take all that out, lift the shifter out of the trans mission to make sure theirs no crap on or inside the tranny, put the lower bushing in, put your shifter in with the upper bushing on it, and bolt it down.

Easy as that.

Hope I helped with what you were asking for.

Misterstyx, you are wrong in this case. Series 4 shifters do not have these FYI.

Well OK!..Thank you Turbo II Rotor!. I have been around the S4 Engines, way too long!..every shifter that I have got has not had a Bushing for the Pin,and Yes,I just noticed that the Slot bushing is for the 89-95.I have never had a run-in with an S5 stock shifter,BUT I have went through Countless Shorthrow shifters with that Stupid bushing On it,and Every one that I had,I Brought it to a shop and got them to fill the slot in with Metal,so that the Bushing is No longer Required...CLOKKER..I apologize, for "doubting you"!!..(I just got CLOKKED!..heh)..but it is nice to learn Something new.So I thank you for Updating my Knowledge of S4 and S5 Shifters!.Cheers Guys.STYX!

Hell, I didn't know the bushing was unique to the S5, so we both learned something.
