RTV thermostat

anyone used RTV as the thermostat gasket?
my thermostat gasket leaks.... after a drive, i can see water come out from the gasket

i just RTV'd my t-stat housing. i still used a gasket though. it works fine.......

Even though it was meant only as a temporary application, I've had red RTV in place of a gasket on my t-stat housing/neck since the rebuild, about 12K miles ago...Hasn't leaked yet

ah alright
cause i was worried about the height and stuff...

on my chevelle, i used it, but thats only because i knew american-made stuff were built with bad measurements, so there are alot of tolerances... heh

Sure, you can basically use silicone RTV on almost anything except the turbo oil return.
Don't ask me how I know this... :P
