I've been tearing down my water pump housing, but I can't seem to do anything to get the water pump off the housing, it's stuck there with a pretty good amount of RTV. Preferably I'd want to save the gasket on the pump but any suggestions to maybe loosen up the RTV would be good.

 

Don't waste time trying to save the gasket. They shouldn't be reused anyway.

If it's stuck pretty hard, a few blows with a rubber mallet will break it free.
