Rtek and boost controller, is porting my wastegate still needed?

I am putting the rtek 1.7 chip on my 1987 TII. I also have an electronic boost controller that i have yet to install. I have full 3" exhaust and a k&n filter. Will i still need to port my wastegate? I am looking to run around 8psi for the street and 12psi at the track.

you will need to port.
no boost controller can make your boost go lower than it would with no controller.

Yes, you will still need to do a port on the stock wastgate.

I run 10-12 psi with an AVC-R. I was getting boost creep with just a straight through 3" exhaust. Now I see none after porting.

Either port now or rebuild later.
