RPM's raise slowly at high RPM's...HELP

This is the problem that im having with my 7. at high RPMS, above 4k the RPMs start raising slower and there is no pull at all. does this mean that i have a clogged cat? or does it have to do with the engine itself? please help!

Well, a bit more info would be helpful... things like what model/year you have (turbo, NA, mods).

Sounds like the 3800 RPM slump. I'm told it's a bad ground somewhere. I'm having the same issue.

Check all your grounds. If you had a bad cat the car wouldn't see much more than 30 miles per hour. I had a clogged cat once and the thing ran, jsut not very fast at all!

I'd say a bad ground...maybe the main engine ground....

Since you have an 88 SE, it could also be that your secondaries (5th and 6th ports) aren't opening up...
If that's the case, wire em wide open!

mostly likely a cat.

my car did that when it was clogged.

you can take it to a muffler shop and they can check.

I had a similar issue when I got my car. I found that the 1st pre cat self destructed and plugged the second pre cat.

*sigh* *waves bullshit flag*

Having the secondaries stuck shut leads to a power loss at high RPMs, yes, but it still pulls fairly hard and will rev freely up through them. Mine were stuck shut when I got the car, and it certainly ran up through the RPM band just fine.

And, wiring them open leads to a low end torque loss, and no gains at the high end over a functioning system.

Check the cats.

As if you haven't heard it enough- check the secondary CAT.

If you're sucking down way more gas than usual, and she revs fine in neutral,

check the CAT
