RPM Question

Just got my new engine running last night, WOOHOO.
But ony to find out I need to replace an oil cooling line.
But my RPM Tach is not working. I did not remove the tranny during the engine rebuild, even though I have checked the cable to the tranny. I originally thought it was because I had forgotten to originally line up the marks on the CAS. So I fixed that and the RPM tach still doesnt move. I have not driven the car yet to see if the speedo works though. Has anyone ever run into this problem? I have an 88TII and I put a new speedo cable on the car about 4000 miles ago.

Have you changed the meter fuse. I had this problem were after the rebuild the rever wasnt working even though i didnt touch the tranny. My problem was everytime i replaced the fuse it kept on blowing up. Put a bigger fuse, problem solved. Check the meter fuse. If not check the wires coming off the coil pack THe primary one ofcourse

Question, where is the meter fuse located at? Is it with the fuses by the DS foot? I dont have the cover to tell me what fuse is what. I pulled every fuse and they are all OK. But I did lose a few when my starter sparked a while back. I may have missed one or two, because the stereo does not work either. Can you pinpoint the slot where the fuse should be and what the amps are?

check for spark on your trailing coil

and the tach has nothing to do with the speedo...

Im not sure what you mean by checking it. The car runs great, so why wouldnt I be getting spark from the TCoil if the car is running good?

The trailing coil does little for actual power, but rather contributes mostly to emissions by "cleaning up" the combustion chamber after the leading spark does its job.

Pay attention to the man and check your trailing coil.

Yep stock tach gets its signal from the trailing coil... if there is no signal the trailing coil is not firing.

OK, I will check the trailing coil pack, but how do I go about doing it? What do I need to be looking for, well, I am looking for spark, so how do I go about that?
