rpm pulse
rpm pulse
I am looking at buying an 1987 Turbo II. The car is compleetly stock and has 79 thousand miles. I was told that when the car was stored for the winter it ran fine when started. After storage the car would idel around 5k-6k when first started. and than storted for more time. After being started 3-5 more times the engine revs up to about 3k rpms, and dont start to pulse untill the car is warmed up.
When cold revs around 3k
when partily warm ran idels at like 2k and pulses between 2,000 rpms and 2,200 rpms
When car is fully worm idels around 1k rpm and pulses between 1,000 rpms and 2,000 rpms
Is this some thing simple as starting it more and driving or what?
Thanks for the help.

stored for winter... ran fine before... cracked vacuum line from temperature changes would cause a pulsing and higher than normal idle. I was told a good way to test for vacuum leaks is for you to put a rubber plumbing end cap from Homde Depot on the intake and pressurize the system with about 30 psi (not really enough to damage anything). You'll hear a noticable hiss from a leak. i take no responsability for any damage that may happen during this proceedure.

30psi is enough to pop lines off. personally i prefer to just use carb/brake cleaner or a simple propane torch not lit but turned on and go around to different areas until the idle smooths out. personally this sounds like a faulty or misadjusted TPS sensor though.
I found that there had been a mouse nest on top of the intercooler after being brought out of storage if that changes anything.
