RPM Cycle at idle

My car idles at 1200 rpm until the engine warms up. After that, the idle rpm cycles contiunally between 1300 and 1500. It takes about one second to complete one cycle. If I increase rpm the cycle persists but takes longer to complete. Above 2800 rpm the cycling stops.

Any ideas? I've had the car to a couple of places & they haven't been able to correct the problem. One said it might be the fuel pump.

Any advice, including recommended repair shops near Huntington Beach, CA would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

RWest
