Rough starts + bouncing idle, help?
Hey all,
looking for some ideas before I head back to the shop: Just finished a swap from N/A to turbo JDM + microtech, but it seems turbo is shot (blows smoke, something about the seal.. can't quite remember).. either way, it's getting replaced soon enough.
More to the point of the post, recently the car has been getting harder and harder to start. It cranks strong, but when it begins to turn over, the motor sounds like its mis-firing. Very hollow sound, like the motor is flooded, and a split second later, the engine turns over and cranks into warmup. I've had a dead starter before, and I'm pretty confident its not the starter motor.
I've also noticed that the idle will bounce after coming to a stop. Most of the time, it jumps between 800 and 1200, but sometimes it'll go as far as 1500+ and drop below 600. Blipping the throttle usually takes care of it and I'm pretty sure the microtech can be tuned to iron this out, but any ideas what might cause this in the first place?
I'd like to dig around a bit before I take it in, so any input or recommendations would be great.
