Rough Idle and Flickering Lights.

A couple weeks ago I purchased an 88 turbo II. I love it so far but I already have a problem. The idle is rough and all the warning lights flicker. The flickering stops and all the lights turn off when RPM's go about 2 thousand. Please Help!

What RPM is it idleing at? If the idle is bouncing then the lights are probably comming on because it thinks the car stalled out but then it catches itself at the last moment. If this is the case, the most likely cause would be a vaccume leak but it is hard to say at this point.

Is the idle constantly bouncing? Or does it hold itself at a certain RPM and then die off? If it seems to try to hold itself somewhere, what RPM is it at?

The idiot lights flickering or coming on, indicates your alternator is failing

It idles at around 800 or 850. it stays pretty constant but it just shakes a little bit. Im ok with the rough idle for now. I just want the lights and the clicking to stop. anybody know how much a new alternator is?

The idle could be as simple as a small vaccume leak or the tps slightly out of adjustment, among other things. Sounds like your alternator is on the way out. You can probably get a re-manned one for 150-200ish as a guess. If the alternator is bad a new one could help the idle too.
