High compression (9.7:1) rotors and boost dont mix.

HICOMP + boost = booom...buuuuuuurrrrrrr...

well it doesn't ALWAYS go boom, but you're going to need a good stand alone, and some very good tuning. If you have to ask, then NO. It's above your level of comprehension. I would stick to turbo rotors.

True, but what percentage of people could pull this off for more than 5-10k miles at a time? My bet is <1%.

A couple things to note:

-how many blown 87-88 turbo IIs do you see sitting around? a shitload huh...well, if the factory low compression 8.5 rotors can lead to blown engines, with all the tolerances the factory programmed in, what do you think is gonna happen when you go engineer your own **** up?

-I have seen engines built with the 9.0 turbo rotors that couldnt take more than 12psi safely. I have seen professionally built, 3- and 4000 dollar engines last less than 5k miles, even with standalones and dyno tuning by respected shops. Again, what do you think is gonna happen when you re-engineer your own stuff?

-how many times have you seen or heard people on this forum and elsewhere talk about "turboing their na"? and what is the resounding answer? "dont do it, it wont last long". Well, the only difference in what you're wanting to do, and what they're told not to do, is that you'd have 4 ports instead of 6 on your NA...

You can go HI as long as you have enough fuel. The #1 thing that makes them go boom is running lean. I got Hi-compression rotors and the car runs great @ 12psi... Glad I went Carb...

Enough fuel, HIGH octane gas, constant tuning, LOW intake temps... These are all characteristics of a RACECAR, not a daily driver... and for a racecar 5-10K miles is GOOD...!

Well guys, you are right that hicomp rotors can be used in a race situation successfully, with a LOT of time and attention, and a little extra money.

BUT, he didnt mention if it were for race or street. Im assuming street since he didnt say otherwise. That and, if he were a racer, he wouldnt have had to ask in the first place...

if you really want new rotors get the 89-95 turbo rotors. I think the same weight as the 89-91 non turbo. but only 9.0 compression.
