looks like there is a lot of chipping around the edges. Is the 1 inch one the only one? Are there any other grooves on the housing surface?

I see lots of grooves / scratches around the spark plug holes.
If these catch on your fingernail or if you can feel them with your fingertips, I'd be hesistant to reuse them.

"Flaking" in the edge is normal, and I don't know why people are so afraid of them - sure, they are not new housings, but if you're not paying $100+ each for them, they are going to work.

yeah its a little groovy, like ted says. also take the front e shaft key and lay it across the housing around the trailing plug hole, if its not flat there, those are scrap.

i'd prolly run those, but not be too thrilled about it

88t2romad: yes only one scratch one the edge

what about using emery paper or 2000 sand on this surface to correct it a little bit ? this will affect the chrome?

and how much compression and life time can i project?
50K?

Some may gawk at this, but I have used a dremmel tool to smooth out groove along the edge. It has worked fine for me. I would not hesitate to use sandpaper but I don't think you will be able to take a lot of material off with it.
