Rotor Disassembly Help

How do I get all the seals out of the rotor, So far I've got te oil rings out but that's it. Engine was stopped for years. I can't get side, corner or apex seals out.

I submerged the whole rotor in some Zep for a couple of hours and nothing. Tried a magnet also. What can I do?

for all the seals you should be able to just use your hands. or the apex seals them self to remove others. crud but works!

I got some little screwdrivers in there to pop out corner seals.

Are you planning on re-using side seals if they're in spec? If not after you have the corner seal out you can use a box cutter with one of those trapezoid shaped blades to pry them out. Mine were really really stuck in and that got them out, just not in one piece.

I would pliers the **** out of anything you can grab, too robusto and that will break stuff though.

If you need some extra hands I'll be in El Paso in Saturday and wouldn't mind meeting another rotary owner.

none of the seals are popping out, they're all stuck flush with the rotor, I have nothing to grab on to, all I've accomplished is breaking one apex seal in half and I can't get the other half out. I tried the screwdriver thing, these things are STUCK.

Thanks guys.

Not sure what ZEP is going to do to the bearings....might wanna read teh product lable.

I would let it soak in keroseone for a couple days. That stuff is safe on the bearings.

If there is rust or corrosion the seals may not come out, period. If not, the rotor is not reuseable. This is why we don't let engines sit for long periods of time...the design of the engine leads to stuck seals.

IF it's just carbon, then enough cleaner and lubrication should allow them to be pulled out or driven out (with the tip of a flat screwdriver, ground down to fit).
