RotaryResources vs RotaryAviation
Hi everybody!
I just came across this overhaul kit:
http://rotaryresources.com/modules.p...=viewitem&id=3
and noticed that it looks pretty much the same as RotaryAviation's one (the pic is exactly the same) but a bit cheaper.
Sorry if this was asked million times i did a search, but found nothing - Does anybody have any info on it?
Thanks in advance!

I think they're the same companies, aren't they? The RA part caters more to the rotary aircraft crowd, and the resources part caters more to the auto guys...

i think you're right wayne... look at the decription of their video.. same as RA..
"Rotaryresources.com has overhauled more Mazda rotaries than they can remember and have learned all the tricks for making the rebuild job as easy as possible. The master engine builders at rotaryresources.com are also professional educators so this presentation is crisp, complete, to the point, and actually fun to watch. The video quality is very good and the close-up views are exceptional.
This 160 minute video covers every detail of teardown, cleaning, inspection, and overhaul of the 13B. It even shows how to do the internal modifications made for aviation applications. If you even THINK you might want to go inside your Mazda rotary, this video is highly recommended."

The 500 dollar kit doesn't include Rotor oil seals. It cost 869.00 for that one. I don't know if I would go to all that trouble and not change everything. Am I wrong or are you better off buying one that's already rebuilt? Unless doing that kind of work gives you a big erection, I think you're better off buying one with a warranty for 1500.00. The parts are too damn expensive. These places that rebuild them must get a big break on the parts, to be able to sell them as cheap as they do. JMHO

It says at the bottom of the description that- and i quote "AUTO INSTALLATIONS -- an installation gasket kit is required. Please visit the Gasket kit store area to order that kit. "
That is where you missing 45 dollars is located. both kits are the same price.
'Nuff said,
Matt

If the rotor oil seals are within spec, theres no need to replace them. A lot of rebuilders re-use some internal parts that are still within spec.

I think it's even a bit more wise to leave parts that are within a spec because there will be no need for a new parts to break in, causin' more wear to housings.
