Rotary MR2

One of my friends has been checkin out rx7's with me for the last couple years and he is really interested by the rotary engine. He has an MKII MR2 and wants to put a 13bT from a series 4 rx7 in it. Does anyone find this to be feasable?? What all would he have to buy in order to do this (engine *duh*, turbo/manifold, ecu, engine wiring harness, etc..) and what would have to be fabricated?

Thanks

Aaron

Tell him it'd be real hard to fit it in because the rotary was not made to be FWD/MR and he'll have a hard time getting an adaptor made to fit his 'yota tranny on it. Hell, he has the perfect platform for modification right now...tell him to get a 3sgte engine and swap it in. Its a straight bolt in, he can use his current gearbox as is, all he'll eed is wiring, ecu, and engine. The 3sgte is capable of 500hp on stock internals. Ive seen otherwisebone stock 3sgte's dyno 280rwhp with only a boost controller and fuel computer.

No way in hell Id put a rotary in that car...too much money, when it'd be so much simpler to swap in the 3sgte.

Having owned MR-2's and RX-7's, I'd recommend your friend refrain from the idea. It'll be damn near impossible without serious machining equipment, serious mechanical aptitude, and a serious bank account.

I agree with just putting in the 3S motor. With the money you'd sink into the rotary project, you could produce over 600 rwhp with the 3S. Hell, I have half the parts to do it, if you want!

Good luck in whatever you choose!

It's mid-engined. It has a transverse engine and transaxle identical to a FWD.
