Talking rotary gods slash down with mercy

I guess I was asking for it today. I was a posting ***** and the gods got me back tonight. Well anyways i came home tonight and fired up my 86 se and was letting it run for a bit. It hasnt been started in about 3 weeks so i figured i better let it run for a while. I came inside and let it run. I went back out to shut it off and to my surprise it had already taken care of it by itself. I got a bit closer and it smelled like a mix potion of gas,oil and burnt antifreeze. I hoped in the car and looked at the temp and it was maxed all the way out. I hurried poped the hood and checked out what i could without any light. I let it cool for about an hour and tried to start it up. It sounded terrible. Like scraping and grinding. I have no idea what it was. It wouldnt fire. I thought for sure that apex seal had blown out on me. I messaged sonicrat and told him what happened. He ran over with some lights and tools. We went to start it and it would run for a bit and then die. It did this several times. Finnally it started and ran but a little rough. It was blowing water and white smoke out of the exaust. I was certain that i blew out a seal or cracked the rotor housing. Well we continued to look at it and i just decided to check some more prestone and water in the radiator. Started it again and it was back flowing bad back out the overfill container. Shut it off. Filled the radiator again. Started it up and it ran fine. No weird noises. Both rotor having compression and no white smoke with water. We left it run for a bit drank a beer and it was still fine. I have no idea what that was all about but i was happy that one of the rotor gods left me with a good engine. I am going to order a new thermometer next week and put it in for some extra security. If you have any other ideas what might have caused this or to examin to make sure it is ok i would appreciate it. Sorry for the long story.

I don't know about you, but I was honestly expecting a chunk of apex to come flying out at us. After that spark or whatever. The steam show coming out of the pipes was definatly not a heart warming site to see, I was waiting for you to break your blinker if you know what I mean. I'm just amazed that it's running good again after only a few sputters, and it isn't blowing liquid hell out the tail pipe!

I literally thought something had caught on fire, this big blast of orange came from under the hood and I was like, holy ****! Then it disappeared and i couldn't figure out where it came from, I wonder if something got into the alternator or something?
