Rotary aviation's apexseals

Any of you guys ever use rotaryaviations apex seals? I"m thinking about using them for an upcoming rebuild, let me know how they run if you've ever used em.

Thanks, Tony

Got about 14K miles on mine at this point. No problems, she's doing 120 psi compression all over...Just watch out for the RA combustion rings popping out on ya while stacking the housings if you're using their whole rebuild kit...

Thats why you put 'em under a piece of plexiglass with a couple of phone books on it the night before!!!!!!! And hylomar the **** out of the grooves!!

I'm drawing 16 In of Vaccume at 800Rpm with a ported motor and Irons that were not bad enough to warrant lapping, but not perfect either

I love the seals so far!!!

PS.... My best track so far has been 13.2 with 118MPH trap speed...... (with a shitty 2.2 60 Ft time .... she spins like a BITCH until i hit third... need more meat on the ***!!!!)

8000 miles on RA seals, S4 NA, I wish y'all had told me about those damn combustion seals and flattening them out BEFORE I spent the better part of the afternoon fighting with them.

Also, despite their instructions saying you don't need to superglue the corner assist pieces on the seals - SUPERGLUE THEM. A 6 hour assembly would have been sub-2 hours had we superglued those little buggers on. They like popping out and making your life a pain in the ***.

Superglue does not work on them.
At least on the set we had...

The set we had had stamped numbers to match triangle to big piece.
I've heard the RA apex seals are not like this anymore.

Super glue worked fine on the set i got in the spring (nubers were stamped on them)

However.... i DIDN'T superglue the front rotors ends on and I fought with that bastard for about two hours and the end pieces kept jumping up and driving me into a realm of pissed of that i have never been before in my entire life... I finally pulled them out, superglued them and BINGO, got hte midplate on in the first shot.

That's basically what my rebuild was like... trying to get the mid iron on without the front seal corner pieces popping out. Sadly, by the time we thought of superglue, the seals were so completely covered in a mixture of assembly oil and vasoline & other stuff that we figured there was no way we could clean them well enough to glue.
