How much is a "shitload" of boost? Ever hear of "quantifying a question"?
Did you think before you wrote this?
How about before you set the truck on fire?

Isn't a "shitload" just a bit above a "crapload", or somewhere between 15 and 20 psi?

The search button would have easily answered his question.

They have held upwards of 500 hp for me... is that a shitload? They've held 200+ staged nitrous shots and over 18 psi of boost on different engines.... they have held some audible and recorded knock under 12 psi lean testing (although one of their earlier versions chipped on an apex seal when I cut the secondary injector).

They're a good product with good service... they hold their own under proper tuning, and don't kill your engine when **** goes wrong. I like them.

The teflon-encapsulated seals, on the other hand... blech

Read the last issue of RXTuner, there is an article about an FD owner, RA seals, and a "shitload" of boost. Your question should be answered there. If you don't get RXTuner, then I'll summarize:

Guy rebuilds motor with RA seals and tunes for like 16 psi or something, can't remember exact numbers. One day he decides to crank it up to like 20 (I think) and mobs around bla bla bla, boosting all over the place. Uh oh, pop goes the rotor, or so he thinks! Goes home, lets car sit, next morning fires it up and amazingly the rotor that was "blown" was now working and his engine was fine. Apparently RA seals "bend" or "distort" but don't really break. Give them some time and they go back to normal, I guess. Haven't heard of anyone actually breaking them *yet*

*Knocks on wood since I just rebuilt my motor with RA seals*

To do a full rebuild where did you guys buy the corner seals, O ring seals, springs, and other stuff that only comes in the Atkins kit if you buy it with apex seals?

And I'm assuming AR doesn't make 3mm... what do you guys think, AR vs Atkins 3mm?

I'm just looking for longest life, I'm an N/A and I want to keep it mostly as a daily driver/autox/drift car.

EDIT: Minus the corner seals, I finally saw them in the picture... but still need the Oil O ring seals/springs that come in the Atkins Kit C.

Atkins sells all of those seperately, search on their site and they'll come up. I just recently bought new corner seal plugs, FD corner seal springs, viton oil o rings, and side seal springs along with their gasket kit that comes with the water jacket seals and all needed gaskets. And FYI corner seals are usually in pretty good condition stock, mine were almost perfect in a 151k motor so all I needed was new plugs and corner seal springs. Another upgrade would be atkins solid coner seals that do not require plugs.

Rotary Aviation is what I'm assuming you mean by AR? Yes they make 3mm apex seals as well. 3mm is pointless in my opinion unless your rotors NEED to be milled to accept 3mm because they are old or worn.

Really? So maybe I should order the kit AFTER I pull apart the engine? I dunno if I want it sitting around opened up for two weeks though... but if I could save some money that'd be well worth it... especially if it's a couple hundred. I'm poor. ;( lol

And is there any preference between the Atkins and AR rebuild videos? I'm probably just gonna order the Atkins anyway... (BTW if you read this Jim, I've been busting *** all week trying to figure out my brakes so I forget every day until it's past 3pm to call you! Tomorrow I'll remember hopefully!)

But you're an old fart that can wait around for three weeks for the parts to come in, Mr Gadget, lol...

Some of us don't have that luxury

Haha, right on...

Actually I also have a "logical" reason... my dad is coming back in a month and will **** himself if he sees two torn down RX7s on jackstands in his driveway when he walks in. =O

Then he'd procede to have them towed away to the junk yard or something. -_-

Anyhow, OF FREAKIN COURSE... I forgot to order the Atkins video!! ARGH!! I had it WRITTEN DOWN and I STILL forgot.

Anyone have any opinions on the videos? AR vs Atkins? They both sell rebuild videos.

OH and It's really not recommended to run "shitloads of BOOST" in a street car, but rather a Well design turbo with more volume. You and your engine will be a lot happier.

I'm not that old! And, on a $500+ order i am not too cheap to spend 20 extra green backs for overnight.....

The three weeks are the key reason I use Atkins over RA. ten days just to ship out is crap customer service. They do need to make a decision with parts as a hobby or a real business. they have great products, however, waiting 10 days for shipping to occur or 5 days consistantly for email responsis sucks.
