room fuse, short?

so im going to ask this question. im sure i will get yelled at but here it goes. my car doesnt have a room fuse. when a room fuse is put in its place the ignition turns on. This would appear to be some sort of short. i have looked over most of the wiring but have yet to find anything. I just want to know if anyone has any information on this. maybe there is something i dont know. suggestions are welcome. thanks.

if the factory stereo wires were cut off from their plugs they could be shorting together (at where the plugs would be- behind the radio) and cause the problem you are describing.

What other electrical stuff have you had done???

when i bought the car there was a stereo then it was stolen then i put another one in. the whole time the room fuse didnt work correctly. so i dont think it is stereo related. however, the car did appear to have some sort of alarm and remote start that wasnt operational (partially removed. i removed everything else i found and the problem remains. it looks like there was work done on the main harness behind and above the fuse box, but nothing looks out of place. i dont really expect an answer i just wanted advice if anyone had any. thanks.
