Room fuse

I just have to share this because it freaked me out so much... I can't believe I didn't catch it after I bought the car when I checked the fuse box. So, yesterday I bought a new stereo for my 7, and in the process of installing it, I accidentaly blew a fuse because I let a hot wire touch a metal ground. I heard it go "pop" and when I opened the door to get out the lights didn't come on. I figured "Oh great, I probably blew the room fuse." So I get down there with a flashlight, and sure enough the room fuse is blown. But there's something wrong.... It's a 15amp fuse!!! I looked at the cover and it's only supposed to be a 7.5amp! What the hell was the privious owner thinking?!!

throw the correct fuse in and hope everythign works... i know ive done it before though, where id throw a higher amp fuse if i have added something aftermarket to draw on that same circuit.. *on my old 240sx i added an aftermarket power window/power locks and so i put a higher amp fuse to whatever i tapped it to and all was ok, otherwise the fuses would blow*

Well everything seems to be working okay... I put the right fuse in and I havn't blown it.

From: tulsa,ok.
It's better to be safe then sorry and "always" disconnect the negative (ground) terminal of the battery when working on something electrical in your car.
