The rockn' guys at Racing Beat and Mazdatrix (thanks)
Yesterday I started my process to get the information on what I am going to need to do my super N/A motor. Jim over at Racing Beat took a good time out of his day to talk to me so we could figure out what would be the best motor combo (internal parts, and external parts). Today I was looking into what would be the best distributor (with the way of wiring it up). Geoff @ Mazdatrix was great. His e-mail response time is off the hook for a performance/parts shop. I got all the info I needed with a fax of the wiring diagram ($5). Just wanted to say thanks to these two guys for taking there time to help me out getting this process started.

I'm not surprised you were treated well at Racing Beat. They really do have good service.
Mazdatrix on the other hand seems tempermental at times. There is an older guy that always talks to you like your an idiot and then there is a younger guy who spends time on the phone and treats you like a customer not a nuisance. I can somewhat understand having to deal with "newbie" questions (don't we all), but it is a business and the customer should always be respected!
Enough of that. Good luck with the build up!

It is still not 100% as I am still gathering all the specific details. Originally I was just going to do a very large street port on my 6 mort motor. But from what I have seen from everybody else I am just not going to get the power gains that I want. The only motor out there now that I am interested in before I finalize my plans is Flyby116’s judge Ito’s crazy port (but we have yet to hear from him). See my post https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=143909
I am probably being greedy but I want the big power (not turbo power, but more than 250). Talking with Jim we pondered all the possibilities of the 6 port. I even brought up the idea of a partial brige on the intermediate housing (using a TII housing). He told me that the motors that they had done that with ended up running like crap . So low and behold the way to make the power is to do a bridge port on a 4 port motor. Here are the specs thus far:
- TII core
- Bridge port (normal not J-Port)
- S5 N/A rotors balanced, snap ringed, clearance.
- Hardened stationary gears front and rear.
- Race bearings all the way around.
- Electronic distributor from a 1981-1985.
- Carburetor. Will probably have to go with a Holly because I don’t think even a Webber 48 DCOE will flow enough.
- Header and the usual exhaust goodies
- Light weight flywheel
- 2 piece 2mm apex (possible 1 piece depends on what RPM I want it to go to [10K ])
That is kind of it for now, I also have a wedding to pay for so all this will be taken in stride and over a long period of time.

It's an interesting market, much different than what I do, industrial A/C parts distribution. No homeowners or teenagers .
Love the setup Rotary Racer! You won't have to worry about 5th 6th ports anymore!

I agree. Racing Beat has good service. I've gone in there a couple times and they actually help you out. They bust out the FSM and start comparing things and give you tips on whatever youre doing.
Mazdatrix has good service as long as that older guy doesnt answer the phone OR help you out over the counter. I'm sure everyone who has dealt with them knows about him Theres another older guy in there who is VERY helpful and patient. Hes the complete opposite of that mean guy
Anyways, both shops are good and I'm glad you got all your questions answered.

I don't know what it is at Racing Beat, but everytime I call for techinal help, they have tried to discourage me form doing what I am doing. (1972 turbo Rx 2) . I just don't get it. It has been done before, It's hard but not impossible. However, when I call Racing Beat helpline I get answers like it is worth more stock, or it is too much trouble to get a TII engine in it.
