Risky Booster!!!

Have 88 FC Infini with FMIC and turbo back 3inch, high flowed turbo,FCD, rising rate reg, and air fuel ratio meter, can't afford computer and dyno tune at the moment. How much boost can I run reasonably safely?

I wouldn't turn up the boost without tuning it, you're just asking for trouble.

Nobody can give you a set in stone number, every car is different. Just watch the AFR until you can at least get an SAFC or something.

If you can't afford to do a few runs on a dyno to check the mixtures at different boost levels, then you certainly can't afford the consequences of turning the boost up without enough fuel...

Since you have a RRFPR, if you upgrade the fuel pump then you'll definitely have enough fuel to bump the boost up to ~12psi, which is the smart limit for the stock turbo. But leave the boost as it is until you know you have enough fuel.

Thanks for all inputs to my dilema, i figured as much i spose but i've been driving it round on less than half throttle to keep it off overboost cut for ages & it's frustraiting (to say the least) trying to get good lap times on club days on a shoe string budget!some of the dodgy **** i've done to my poor car all in the name of "i wanna go fast" is almost embarrising! most of it seems to work funnily enough... sometimes... Anyway r those walbro fuel pumps any good? i've heard there's inferior chinese ripoffs. thanks for any info, "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" apparently

damn another thread where i assume we'll see this guy back in a week or 2 with a popped motor.

you need to port your wastegate and get a fuel controller ASAP

wastegate has been ported, but obviously not enough i'd say cause boost starts climbing over 7psi over 4,500 rpm, checked actuator is working o.k. It does have larger than standard 'knights sports' front compressor housing. Big external wastegate for better boost control would be sweet, but again lack of funds is the problem. unless there's a cheap dodgy way of doing it?

there is no cheap dodgy way with rotary engines, either do it right or your gonna blow your motor.

Lack of funds + too much boost = rebuild.

^ I can answer that question all too well.

Back in December I lined up with an 03 Cobra on the highway. It was about 40 degrees out. I had a ported wastegate on my stock turbo, but apparently not ported enough because my boost creed to 20psi (normally it was at 12, and I have a FMIC) due to the cold weather and I just heard a loud thunk

of course, Bruce Turrentine builds a hell of a motor and it survived
