Just more of a question out of interest than help as such. But have any of you guys had or heard of the ring gear completely (almost/slipping) coming of the flywheel on a s5(turbo)?

Went to start the car the other day, and all i could hear was the pinion gear in the starter turning over and not the engine - strange i thought as if the pinion gear is spining the plunger in the starter must be working.

Jack car up, take off the inspection plate on g/box, got my sister to turn the car over, and the ring gear is spinnin, but not the flywheel . Time to drop the box and inspect.

The night before i was doing burnouts, but i never heard any strange noises. Too much heat and.......??
