rims and tires
Hi, I was wondering if this would be a good choice of rims for a car that will be street/strip. I mean width wise. I wanted some pretty wide tires in the back. I just don't know what tires would fit on these rims. I obviously don't know much about offsets and stuff. would these ones for out back definitely be wider than the fronts if i put the right rubber on them? what do you recommend? I searched but I'm kinda rushed at the moment. please help. thanks.
I want these for out back:

and I want these for the front:

Why do you HAVE to get new wheels?
Stop bumping your thread, cause it's against the rules.
If you did a proper search, all the answers are in here.
In fact, there's a huge thread in the Suspensions section about this very subject.

You can fit a 17x9" with a 265x45 tire with the proper offset. I have TSW Evo wheels in 17x9" rear and 17x8" front with 255x45x17" rear and 235x40x17" front, on stock fenders and factory struts. 235 is about as wide as you can go up front.
As far as offsets, search, my wheels were second hand, so I can't help you there.

I searched in the "what did my FC come with" thread. i didn't see anything there that i understood about offsets and the like. I totally didn't think about the suspension section. I HAVE to get new wheels because the ones i have now are stock and old and ugly and i have the money and i'll need better traction with the modifications that i will be doing to my car. is that enough? don't question my motives. and thank you digitalsolo.

One of your problems is that you're looking at the Tire Rack site.
Go talk to them if you're looking to buy something from them.
You're in for a rude awakening.
Tire Rack doesn't like selling wheels that are radically different from stock.
If you did your homework, you would know the stock Turbo II comes with 16" x 7", +40 wheels, stock.
17" diameter doesn't change anything when it comes to rim width and offset.
You mention 7" wide above - use the same offset, +40.
This will allow those wheels to sit like stock.
Please don't come in here demanding information, when all it takes is a quick web search.
You really need to understand what offset is...before asking questions about it!
It's very hard to explain things to you when you don't even know the nomenclature.
Then you turn around and snap about not questioning your motives?
Good luck getting the information.

i just wasted 10 minutes typing about just getting a pair of rims in 15X8+32 and tossing some slicks on them and changing them at the track....... like most guys who really want to race do...
but then realized that you wouldn't do it anyway, cause you really don't care about your 60ft times, you want to be bling and still try and get it over at the track.....
17's simply aren't the best choice for strip tires..

who's demanding information??? If I'm not mistaken, I said "please" and "thanks". and if you'll note, I said "I searched but i'm kinda rushed at the moment" I wanted to get them sooner and I needed an answer sooner. I was pressed for time. I even searched some. you'll be lucky if you get that out of many people that start these threads. atleast i searched.
and yearsofdecay... Maybe I don't go to the track that often that i NEED to shell out another few hundred dollars on 15's and I want to look good while being fast at the same time. I'm not some dumbass kid that doesn't know anything. I know what big rims can do to your 60' times. I'm willing to sacrifice a little for looks. if my car was strictly strip...everything would be gutted and I would have those 15's. and if i wanted to be bling, i would get some big 'ol 20" chrome spinners or something. maybe if i start to go to the track more often i'll get those 15's... My way of fixing up my cars is getting a good mix of looks and power. usually focusing on power more and just doing a little to make it look decent on the street. I know that 18's and chromies are really bad for the strip so i compromise and get 17's that look good and aren't heavy as hell. I hope you can understand.
