Rim Size

Hey Gurus!

I searched for good rim size and didnt find anything specific to what im looking for and maybe one of you can help me out.

I have a '91 vert n/a and want to get some new rims and tires. What is a good tire size to get? Something thats a lot bigger than stock, but does not mess with the turning. How thin can you get? 40? 30?

16's are about as big as you can go before you start seeing power sapped from the wheel size. They are the best combination of looks and performance.

Stock tire is 205 60 15

How "thin" you can get obviously is determined by the size of the rim, you can go as thin as you want but it's a huge cosmetic/perfomance compromise. You can get 19's with a 35 sidewall but why?

You need a rim with minimum 42 offset otherwise you'll rub the springs with 225's up front.

There's more clearance in the rear to run wider, but then you have stagger issues.

Get some 16's, good rubber, and some Racing Beat springs. Problem solved.

I plan on running 16x7 on all fours, with a nice set of 225 50's all the way around... also running on a +40mm offset

I have velox 17x7.5 with 215/40 fronts and 235/40 in the back and I am happy with the looks so far. But yes I could tell the performance difference from the stock 15's for about a day or 2 then its gone and you don't even realize it anymore. If you are going to get 16's get 16x8 not 7.

I guess i really dont know what i want, and thats why i asked you guys. Some 16s sound like the way to go. Whats the difference between the 16x8 and 16x7?

Is 16x8 the rim size?

So, some 225/40/16s would be nice? Ive got a white vert and was going to get some white spider rims.

16 is the height of the rim and 8 is the width of the rim.
